The ABVA holds an annual Spring meeting at the pre-BSAVA Birmingham Congress, and is affiliated with the BSAVA.

The ABVA is also affiliated to the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS), which enables ABVA members to subscribe annually to IVAS at a preferential rate. IVAS members receive quarterly newsletters and an annual journal, as well as notification of international meetings about veterinary acupuncture and related topics.

The ABVA is closely linked with BMAS (British Medical Acupuncture Society) and in the past have held joint meetings. All members of ABVA receive the BMAS journal, Acupuncture in Medicine, as part of their membership.

There are at present approximately 300 members.
