ABVA Spring Meeting Wednesday 30 March 2011 ICC, Broad Street, Birmingham B1 2EA
We would encourage all members to attend the annual Spring meeting, it is the only meeting organized by ABVA during the year and is followed by our AGM. This is a unique opportunity to meet with colleagues and swap stories from the sharp end of the veterinary acupuncture world.

The speaker for 2010 was Anna Hielm-Björkman, from the University of Helsinki. In addition to speaking on both the theoretical and practical aspects of using gold bead implants she also spoke about her work in developing a chronic pain index, and the effects of acupuncture that can be observed by using MRI. Both these topics should help vets in practice to communicate with clients about what we hope to achieve with acupuncture and give us and them a practical system for assessing progress with cases.

Advanced course in Veterinary Acupuncture Module Two
This module introduces the ABVA course Module 2 - Chinese Medicine. The Module explores the traditional basic concepts of acupuncture. We will aim to provide an overview of the history and a detailed examination of the principles and practical aspects of traditional Chinese medical theory and examine their use in applying acupuncture. On completion of this module practitioners should feel safe and competent to treat a wide variety of conditions in domestic animals.

NOTE: We are currently accepting delegates on a wait-list basis for the ABVA Advanced Course (all Modules). At present, we have insufficient delegate numbers to run a complete course. We will contact those on the wait list as soon as there are sufficient numbers to allow the Advanced course to proceed.
