NEW ABVA FOUNDATION COURSE 2012 - 16/17 February & 22/23 March - Henley in Arden, Warwickshire - £1,200
The Foundation Course is primarily a practical one for veterinary surgeons who are new to acupuncture or those who wish to refresh their knowledge. Experience in point finding and needling in various species will be gained from animal acupuncture demonstrations provided when indicated, especially dogs and horses. Videos are shown. Safety issues in humans and animals are explained. Those delegates who wish to be needled or needle others are invited to do so. Notes are provided. A full programme is available on request.
The information we give you stands firmly on a Western clinical diagnosis and an understanding of acupuncture’s neurophysiological mechanisms; but to broaden your experience we would like to introduce you to some of the historical and traditional concepts from which this ancient form of medicine evolved.
It takes four days to give you the information you need to start practising acupuncture safely and competently for the relief of a broad range of conditions.

The aim of the course is to provide a practical and comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and management of orthopaedic conditions commonly encountered in working dogs.
Steve Butterworth is a RCVS recognised Specialist in canine orthopaedics and an internationally recognised speaker in his field. His lectures will focus on diagnosis and surgical management of commonly encountered conditions in working breeds.

Advanced course in Veterinary Acupuncture Module Two
This module introduces the ABVA course Module 2 - Chinese Medicine. The Module explores the traditional basic concepts of acupuncture. We will aim to provide an overview of the history and a detailed examination of the principles and practical aspects of traditional Chinese medical theory and examine their use in applying acupuncture. On completion of this module practitioners should feel safe and competent to treat a wide variety of conditions in domestic animals.
NOTE: We are currently accepting delegates on a wait-list basis for the ABVA Advanced Course (all Modules). At present, we have insufficient delegate numbers to run a complete course. We will contact those on the wait list as soon as there are sufficient numbers to allow the Advanced course to proceed.
