The Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists was
formed in 1987, as a result of a growing interest in acupuncture
by veterinary surgeons in the UK.
The aims of the Association are to further the research and
teaching of veterinary acupuncture, by an organised programme
of continuing education, and to encourage the appropriate
use of acupuncture in veterinary medicine.

The ABVA maintains standards of education, ethics, practice
and discipline to ensure the health and well being of animals
in the UK. It provides a basic standard for the clinical application
and integration of this ancient, yet progressive medicine,
into veterinary practice.
The Association aims to promote the safe and competent use
of acupuncture by veterinary surgeons, and to ensure that
animal owners in the UK may contact veterinary acupuncturists
from a creditable source.
